Frequently Asked Questions
About Culebra Cigars, our products, and where to find us in Switzerland.
+What is Culebra Cigars?
Culebra Cigars is a Swiss premium cigar brand founded in 2025 by Nicolas Schwarz and Oliver Kneubühl, two Swiss entrepreneurs based in Uerikon, Zürich. Culebra offers handmade Dominican cigars under the La Primera line, sold online across Switzerland and stocked at 30+ partner cigar lounges, hotels and restaurants nationwide. The brand also organises cigar tastings and events across Switzerland.
+Where can I buy Culebra cigars in Switzerland?
You can
buy Culebra cigars online at culebracigars.ch with delivery throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein, or in person at one of 30+ partner venues — including cigar lounges in Zürich, Bern, Zug, Luzern, Basel and other Swiss cities. The full
Culebra Cigars stockist list is on the
Find Us page, grouped by Gastronomy, Lifestyle & Club, and Retail partners.
+Where are Culebra cigars made?
Every Culebra cigar is handcrafted in the Dominican Republic (Hecho a Mano en La República Dominicana). The La Primera blend uses an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, an Indonesia/Nicaragua binder, and Dominican Republic + Peru filler — producing a balanced, mild-to-medium profile suited to both newcomers and experienced cigar smokers.
+What cigar formats does Culebra offer?
The La Primera line is available in three classic formats (vitolas): Robusto (5 inches, ring gauge 52, 45–60 minute smoke), Toro (longer format with creamy complexity and gentle spice), and Corona (slimmer format with elegant balance). The El Dúo collection (Explorador, Clásico, Largo) bundles two formats in one box, and La Colección Culebra brings together all three vitolas in a 15-cigar set.
+Are Culebra cigars Cuban or Dominican?
Culebra cigars are Dominican, not Cuban. The Dominican Republic is one of the world's most respected cigar-producing nations, known for consistency, refined construction and balanced blends. Many cigar lovers in Switzerland start with Cuban cigars before discovering that Dominican cigars — like Culebra — offer the craftsmanship of Cuba with greater consistency batch-to-batch.
+How much do Culebra cigars cost?
Culebra cigars range from approximately CHF 49 to CHF 420, depending on format and pack size. Examples: La Primera Robusto 5 Pack — CHF 110; El Fuego Cigar Lighter — CHF 59; El Dúo Explorador (10 cigars) — CHF 139. All prices are in Swiss Francs (CHF). Shipping is free on all orders over CHF 80 within Switzerland and Liechtenstein; smaller orders include a flat shipping fee at checkout.
+Who founded Culebra Cigars?
Culebra Cigars was founded in 2025 by Nicolas Schwarz (Co-Founder & CEO, former investment banker) and Oliver Kneubühl (Co-Founder & Chairman, corporate lawyer). The brand's advisory board includes Peter Witzke, former CEO of Villiger Söhne AG (2007–2017) and current CEO of Kopp Tobaccos GmbH, with over 30 years of cigar-industry experience.
+Does Culebra organise cigar tastings in Switzerland?
Yes. Culebra runs
private and public cigar tastings across Switzerland — from intimate sessions at partner lounges to larger formal events. Since the brand's launch in October 2025, Culebra has hosted 10+ events with over 300 guests. Upcoming tastings are listed on the
Events page, and private tasting bookings can be arranged via the
contact form.
+What does the name "Culebra" mean?
Culebra is Spanish for "snake" — a nod to 2025, the Chinese Year of the Snake when the brand was founded, and a personal touch from co-founder Nicolas Schwarz, who used to keep three pythons of his own.
+Where is the best cigar lounge in Zurich to try Culebra?
Culebra is stocked at several premium cigar lounges in Zürich and the surrounding region — including
AURA Zurich,
Taos Zurich,
Wunderbrunnen Opfikon,
Il Salotto Cigar Lounge,
Seejogg, and others. The full list is on the
Find Us page under Gastronomy Partners. Each venue offers the right setting to enjoy a La Primera cigar.
+How should I store Culebra cigars at home?
Cigars are best stored in a
humidor at 65–70% relative humidity and 18–21°C — conditions that protect flavour, aroma and burn quality. The Swiss climate (dry winters, humid summers) makes humidity control especially important. Culebra's storage guide covers humidor selection, hygrometer calibration, and seasonal adjustments — read it on the
Cigar Storage blog post.
